District Mot, as the name suggests, refers to the central urban district in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City.  This vibrant part of Vietnam has, at least culinary wise, been introduced to German grounds in the form of the Saigon Street Food restaurant District Mot located in Berlin Mitte. And it is pretty much dead on vietnamese. From the colorful plastic chairs to the various vietnamese street signs hung around the restaurant, you can’t help but feel like you’ve been transported into little Saigon whilst being in the middle of Berlin.

But aside from taking on typical vietnamese characteristics, District Mot also introduces a modern spin on a popular vietnamese street food in the form of the notorious Banh Bao Burger. Notorious not only as it gives the traditional steamed pork buns a new, westernized image but also since District Mot’s Banh Bao Burger is a three-time winner of the Burgers ’n Hip Hop best burger vote.

Personal recommendations: Aside from the obvious must try, the Banh Bao Burger, also try the various Sinh tố (smoothies) , fried spring rolls with rice noodles or the salivating desserts. One word: matcha.
